- Cinnabar Gym: After taking care of the roaming fossil Pokémon, Blaine appears from the nearby Gym. He reveals that he created Mewthree and cannot leave the island to face him, but is willing to train You, Joey, and Maruto to be able to face him.

- Blaine is the only gym leader to not be seen in the Viridian Ending cutscene.
